Idea book: when I grow up. — Mac Reid

Idea book: when I grow up.

I'm usually tongue in cheeking my day to day existence. One of the ways in which I do this most is the phrase "when I grow up, I want to be (fill in the blank person)." In reality, I want to grow up and be a better myself. Who doesn't?

But if I could choose someone's life I'd like to emulate most closely, it'd be Amy Sedaris. She writes amazing books, acts when she feels like it, and lives in a gorgeous Greenwich village apartment with her rabbit. I would love to do all of those things, except maybe switch the rabbit for a cockatiel. (Or a parrotlet! I've been dreaming about getting a parrotlet forever!)

When I was 16, I had a journal named Zebra. In it, I made a list of all the qualities in every adult I admired, that I wanted to copy when I was an adult.

Your prompt today is to do the same.

Who do you want to be when you grow up?

Tongue in cheek you may just say something like, Amy Sedaris. What is it about her life that you admire? Not tongue in cheek you should say something like, "her ability to control her life in a nice neighborhood in a big city."

Think maybe about your favorite teachers growing up, why did you like them so much? What about them would you want to replicate in your life as an adult?

When you're making this list, feel free to also make it a ridiculist. It doesn't have to feel remotely attainable at all—jam pack it with idealism! Why not?

Happy growing up~!
